How are everyone's hands holding up?  This first few months of pull-ups can be rough.  Even if you've been doing pull-ups all along, a new bar can pose a lot of pain.  Be sure to be taking care to rid your calluses by shaving, exfoliating and applying hand cream daily.  We know this seems obsessive.  You will not need to do this everyday once your hands are adapted.  Although, you will need to maintain once a week.

If you have open wounds, make sure to get some athletic tape and tape up before a hand intensive WOD.  If you've never taped before or want to see some methods, just ask.  Another way to reduce your hand tears is by using minimal chalk.  Chalk is meant to keep your hands dry from sweaty palms, it is not an adhesive like spidies webs.  If too much chalk is layered it can create friction and ripping.

i haven’t really heard much about details of handcare….like what do i use to shave off callouses? does a normal razor work? what to use to exfoliate? a pumice stone or something else?
thanks to anyone who can shoot me some info…

  2. Amy Schaeffer :

Hey Tiff, go to “Bed, Bath , and Beyond” and they have a display with “Tweezerman” products. There are callous shavers with extra blades. Some even come with pumice like exfoliating files. I think they run about $9.00 but totally worth it. ( They look like a larger version of a woman’s razor handle with a square blade)

  3. Matt :

Target has them for $2.99 and they’re near the foot care products for women. I’ll post a “hand care with a razor” post ASAP. Don’t forget to buy extra blades if they don’t cmoe with the razor handle.

Thanks to everyone with all the great recipe posts yesterday. I have a new favorite.
    Ground turkey pizza crust
Suggested to bake on a pizza stone. We do not have one and used a baking dish; it worked fine.
    30 minutes
    1 1/4 lb ground turkey
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp ground almonds
    1 Tsp dried basil
    olive oil
Preheat oven 450 and oil the pan with a LIGHT amount of Olive oil
Mix; turkey, egg, almonds and basil. Pour onto pan an press flat about 1/2 inch thick. Bake for 10 minutes.
Add a sauce (without sugar) I used tomato sauce, I hear there are pizza sauses without sugar. Use whatever veggies you love on pizza. If you are zoning add up all veggie & sauce blocks as carbs. I used; leek, grape tomatoes, onions, zuccinni and yellow pepper. YUMMY!
    Zone for the crust:
    20 Protein
    20 Fat
Divide the pizza for appropriate block needs.

I can’t wait to try this recipe Cherie, it sounds FABULOUS!
WOD as rx’d 12:17. Fun one, I liked it. It kept me moving steadily the whole time and forced my recovery through consistent breathing.
