Why does lifting heavy burn more fat?  Lifting heavy breaks up muscle tissue in higher quantities than other forms of exercise.  The body's response is to repair.  It takes energy to repair tissue and when more tissue is damaged, more energy is used to repair it.  Thus, you are increasing your metabolism and burning more fat.  Silly strong – that's the way Matt like to think of it.
