Verve Athlete Profile: Denny Kim

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in West Des Moines, Iowa.  I moved to Colorado in 2005 after finishing high school to go to college.  I wanted more out of life and seeing that Colorado is a very fit state I decided I would continue my journey here.

How long have you been CrossFitting?

I started CrossFit in December 2012 (only 7 months.) I learned from the greatest Eric Clancy. 

What is your favorite workout?

Its called the DK workout that I made myself.  5 rounds: 10 Deadlifts (275lbs), 10 box jumps at 48", 10 pushups, and 1 muscle up..

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am a full time student seeking a degree in Petroleum Engineering.  School takes up a lot of my time but I make sure I get my workouts in as well.  I usually do some kind of heavy lifting and row for 3000M in the mornings and then I will try to do the WOD later that day.  CrossFit and school pretty much keep me busy!

What is one of your best/favorite goals you have accomplished since you started CrossFit? 

Being able to do most workouts prescribed.  My goal is to get stronger so I can add more weight then what is prescribed for the workouts.  I remember doing Fran during my Elements classes with Clancy and I had to use a band to do my pullups.  I can knock it out without bands which I feel is a great accomplishment so far.
Anything you would like to add?
I LOVE CrossFitCrossFit is a great community of great people who have like minds.  There is nothing better to my day then to go to Crossfit Verve to see all the great people striving to reach their goals!  Thanks CrossFit Verve for a great home!

    Shouldn't the score be the total time and the total number of DUs?  Otherwise, the rest of the WOD is just warm-up.  Not that I would treat it as such, you understand.

    By the way, Denny, you are a sexy beast. Always a pleasure to see your smiling face in a class.  You need a little work on role models, however.
