Congratulations to Verve athlete Emmalee Moore for receiving her CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification this weekend.  For those of you unfamiliar with this certification, it provides an unmatched exposure to the CrossFit methodology, movements, programming, and nutrition.  The certification also puts your physical abilities to the test with several workouts and skill breakout groups.

One of the topics of discussion during the certification is theuniversal scalability of the CrossFit program – making it appropriate for both the elite athlete and the deconditioned novice.  The CrossFit training methodology is based on constantly varied, functional movements, executed at high intensity.  Very rarely, if ever, do we know what obstacles we will face throughout the average day.  We might be faced with the need to change a tire, move bags of concrete mix, or lift a toddler from the floor to a supported position on the shoulder.

For this reason, we seek to develop a general physical preparedness so that we may live our lives independently, undaunted by lives daily tasksBy scaling the workouts to the individual, we can effectively train any person, regardless of current conditioning, making them more abled bodied and prepared for whatever life demands from them.  Utilizing functional movements (movements found everywhere in nature, making them essential to independent living), we can train just about anybody to live a more able-bodied life for a longer period of time.

    Ever, Ever, Ever! Just kidding, we are still holding the ones on Tuesday and Thursdays. Our attendence is so low for the 7:30 classes that this was the best option, we will continue to re-evaluate.
