Two distinct styles of snatching.

Lifting 101 – The difference between weightlifting and powerlifting.  Powerlifting (squat, bench press, and deadlift)  tests limit strengths.  Weightlifting (aka Olympic lifting), tests explosive strength.  The two Olympic lifts are the Clean and Jerk and the Snatch.  They are used in competition for two main reasons. First, their unique ability to elicit strength, speed, accuracy, agility, coordination and flexibility.  Second, they require a greater range of motion during the lifts, making them easier to judge proper form.

Fun snatch fact- In the 2008 Olympics Jang Miranof South Korea set the women's world record for snatch of 140 kg (310#).
