Gerson Elements #1, welcome to the family.

We will meet at Commons Park for today's WOD.  The weather is supposed to be beautiful, so it will be a great opportunity to go out and enjoy it while it lasts.  Let's face it, it's January – it won't last for long. 

Why is it important to train in long slow distances when 20 minute WOD's seem to get the job done?  We train in three metabolic pathways in order to prepare our bodies for any and everything.  The first two pathways, the phosphagenic and glycolytic, are considered anaerobic and allow us to exert tremendous forces over short periods of time.  The third, the oxidative pathway is considered aerobic and allows us to emit low power over extended efforts efficiently.  Training each of these metabolic engines is vital to improving overall fitness.

    Cherie, first off–I’m slightly embarressed to say that we are up checking out the website at this ungodly hour. Secondly–we concede the burpees/ball cleans WOD and will gladly show up for the 5k. Should be fun since we haven’t done one officially in feels like forever. I think if I remember correctly though, we should be able to beat our burpee/ball clean times with the 5k. I’m actually sorta looking forward to seeing our running times decrease despite not running regularly. Remember to remind me of that later.
    ps. Good job everyone with bowling tonight. Cherie, you did a great job keeping your butt down and chest up, even finishing with some “flair!” : )

    Hey guys, to anyone who is interested…I am going to run the 5k at 7:30pm tonight at Commons Park as I can’t make it to any of the scheduled WODs. If anyone wants to join me, would love to have a partner!!

    I am happy to run at 7:30pm with Cheresa. I had a blast bowling last night and think that we need to add a “Social Events” section to the Menu for future events. It could be a great place for the group to post events under. I nominate Alan and Anna for the cruise director position…they did a great job organizing last night’s bowling event!!

    Joei and I have talked about doing a marathon of some sort but it would be really cool to get as many Ververs as we can and do one together. ANyone interested or have any ideas?

    Hey Chersea, I can run with ya too. I will be coming from the north campus urgent care. May be a few minutes behind. We need to get the route and pick a place to meet. I forgot my cell today, so I will check back here for any more info.
    Thanks to those who were able to make it last night. It was fun. My fingers are very sore though. We will have to do that more often.
