Valentines Partner Competition!

We’re excited to have some fun Sunday with you.  Our Valentine’s Partner Competition is going to be an opportunity get together for 3 workouts in 3 hours, laugh, and have a good time in a chill environment.  It’s not meant to be a high pressure, stressful time, but rather a chance to challenge yourself and cheer on your fellow athletes.  Be ready to help judge/count for each other and hold each other accountable for the same great range of motion we practice everyday.  We’ll discuss the standards prior to each workout and address any questions.  Check-in at Verve 9am-9:15am.  Group warm-up will follow check-in and the first heat will begin at 9:30am.  Be prepared to hang out and enjoy each other between workouts, as we may have minimal time between workouts in order to facilitate being finished by no later than 12pm.  

Workout #1: The Honeymoon
Olympic total + Double-unders bonus

Each team will have 15 minutes to reach their 1RM Snatch and Clean & Jerk.  During that time any partner can do double unders to add additional pounds to their total. 1DU = .2 pounds. Each team will have 2 barbells available.  Only one partner may be working (lifting or jumping) at a time.  Both partner’s best successful snatch and clean + jerk will be added together.  Each team’s acumulative totals + Total DU/5 = score.

Workout #2: The Ball & Chain
Three rounds for time:
200m run
40 Partner wall ball toss, 20# (14#)

Wall ball weight may be modified according to team composition per coach’s discretion.

Each team will run the 200m while holding on to a ring. A 5 burpee penalty is accrued anytime the ring is not being held by both athletes during the run portion.  Penalties must be completed before continuing.  The wall ball toss will have the partners standing next to each other facing the wall. They must perform a wallball toss to the 10’/9′ line and their partner will catch it and perform the same movement back until they reach 40 successful reps total.  Time stops when both partners finish and partners complete an EPIC HIGH FIVE!

Workout #3: Silver Anniversary
For time:
5 Muscle-ups
10 Handstand push-ups
15 Ground to overhead, 95# (65#)
Row 20 calories
25 Burpee box jump overs, 24” ( 20”)

Weights and box jumps may be modified according to team composition per coach’s discretion.

Only one partner may work at a time.  Each partner must complete the given reps of each movement.  The team can only move on to the next exercise when all the reps are completed by both partners.  Partners may assist each other in any way to complete the full range of motion on the muscle-ups and handstand push-ups.  The ground to overhead can be done any way possible, snatch, clean and jerk, clean+thruster, whatever as long as full range of motion is achieved.  Time stops when both partners finish burpee box jumps and partners complete an EPIC HIGH FIVE!
