Ahh, opening day of Rockies baseball (wait for James to stop jumping up and down).  Opening day for the Rockies is this Friday, April 1st at 2pm.  Now that we are at our new location, getting to the gym while there are home games might  be a little difficult.  During the week, Rockies games can vary from 1p.m. to 7p.m. with an immense amount of foot traffic around Coors Field.  What does this mean for you?  Well, if you do not plan accordingly you could end up in the rock pile instead of at your WOD.  Streets to avoid: 

  • 20th St- many people have to cross 20th St to get the stadium.  
  • Blake St- temporarily closed during games from 20th to 22nd St, so good luck getting through there.  
  • Park Avenue- Many fans from the north end of town access the stadium from I-25 to Park Avenue. 

Our recommendation, whenever there is a home game at Coors Field is to travel on I-25 until you get to the I-70 corridor.  Go west on I-70 and exit on Washington St.  Turn on Washington and head south.  Washington will veer and turn into 38th Avenue.  Take 38th to Walnut and veer left to Downing, then an immediate right on Larimer.  Take Larimer two blocks and Verve will be on your right side.  Now you are prepared….Game on!

Speaking of games… We need to make a plan to have a Verve night out at a Rockies game!  We will get some dates together and see if they work for everyone.  

Remember, there has been a change in the CrossFit Open schedule.  

This Saturday, April 2nd MBS will host the CrossFit Open workout #2 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  Once the WOD is announced we will post instructions for sign up as well as heat times.  You will have until 6PM Friday night to sign up for a Saturday heat time. The workout on Saturday CAN BE SCALED IF NEEDED.  All CrossFitters are welcome and encouraged to participate.

If you can volunteer in Broomfield, please shoot janelle@mbscrossfit.com an email.  We will be carpooling from Verve Saturday morning for all interested in competing, volunteering and cheering.

    Any recommendations on a direct way from Downtown to Verve? Broadway is under construction and I haven’t figured out a good way to zig-zag through 5 points.

    Leslie, I would say from Broadway north, turn left on 15th or 18th and northwest until you hit Market and turn right. Market will turn into Walnut.
